VIST Financial Finances Expansion at The Works
Friday, June 11, 2010

Wyomissing, PA - The Works, a 33,000 square foot restaurant and entertainment destination located in the historic textile machine works facility in Wyomissing, will be undergoing a major expansion this summer.

With financial assistance from VIST Financial, The Works will undergo a two phase construction and expansion project spearheaded by Howard L. Stolzfus Construction, Douglasville, PA.  The project is slated for completion in August.

Phase one will include a project called "Building 24" and will feature a state-of-the-art nightclub and an upscale "gastro pub" serving unique gourmet dishes, classic and vintage cocktails, craft beers, and an extensive wine menu.  The "gastro pub" will have indoor and outdoor seating while the nightclub will have three separate bar areas, bottle service, and nationally-recognized entertainment.

"We had many families come to The Works over the years and some didn't like the idea of the bar area mixing with the games for children," stated Chip White, owner.  "We made the decision to separate the two areas and build a nightclub," he added.

Phase two of the construction will begin in late July and will include an expansion of the children's area with an indoor obstacle course, a larger game area, and a designated section for birthday parties.

"VIST Financial has a long-standing relationship with Chip and The Works and when we saw his business plan we thought it was a great addition to the current "Works" facility and a win-win for Chip and the Greater Reading community," stated Tim Romig, Senior Vice President, Commercial Banking.  "The expansion project will create 15 new jobs for Berks," he added.
