H.H. Gregg, the appliance and electronics retailer, is moving in to the former Circuit City store in Berkshire Mall West, Wyomissing.
The Indianapolis-based company, which lists 131 locations on its website, has scheduled a May 20 opening for the store.
According to its website, it plans to open an additional 11 stores in Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware on the same day. These include a store in the Lehigh Valley Mall, in Whitehall Township.
Other Pennsylvania locations include Wilkes-Barre, Lancaster and North Wales.
Many of the new stores occupy former Circuit City locations, according to Jeff Pearson, vice president of Marketing for H.H. Gregg.
"We stock 500 appliances, and also a large inventory of mattresses, and we offer same day or next day delivery, depending on where the customer lives," Pearson said. The Wyomissing location will display 110 large screen, flat-panel televisions.
The company, which said it plans to hire about 50 employees at each store, began accepting online applications in late March for commissioned sales associates, warehouse staff and customer service merchandiser positions.
The company recently opened six stores in Central Pennsylvania, and is about to open six stores around Baltimore, Pearson said.
