Reading, PA May 19, 2009 – Berks Economic Partnership (BEP) recently joined a regional marketing group known as The Smart Market. The Smart Market includes economic development groups from a nine-county region in southcentral Pennsylvania including Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties.
The goal of Smart Market is to promote the Southcentral PA region as great place to locate a business. With an extensive transportation system of highways, railroads, seaports, and airports, and easy access to major U.S. and Canada consumer and industrial markets, Smart Market is centrally located and well-positioned to attract companies in industries such as manufacturing, biotechnology, health care, agribusiness, logistics, and plastics.
Pamela Shupp, Vice President, BEP, said, “Smart Market provides another opportunity for BEP to promote economic development in Berks County as well as southcentral PA. It makes sense when we can come together as a region, pool resources, and tout our strengths. We’re extremely happy to participate with our partners in this type of collaborative marketing effort.”
