county.
With more than 30 golf courses within 30 miles, the most difficult part of your golf game will be deciding which course to play.
In the fall you can enjoy the annual show of brightly colored foliage, while watching an eagle soar over Hawk Mountain, one of the world’s important migratory routes for hawks, eagles, and falcons.
In winter, you can spend some time downhill and cross country skiing on our slopes and trails, either at local resort, Bear Creek Mountain, or in the nearby Pocono Mountains.
Year round there are miles and miles of trails available for hiking, horseback riding, and biking. The Appalachian Trail passes through Berks County on its Maine to Georgia route. Blue Marsh Lake has 32 miles of trails ranked among the best in the country by Bicycling Magazine.The Schuylkill River National & State Heritage Area always has something new to discover and offers land, water and birding trails. And check out the Berks Equine Council for information about local equestrian activities.
Parks abound in Greater Reading and Berks County. Blue Marsh Lake and the Schuylkill River offer swimming, boating, canoeing, and kayaking opportunities throughout the year. Plus we are home to French Creek State Park and Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center which offer numerous outdoor activities.
